What ElevenLabs is
ElevenLabs is a company and a family of AI speech models. Its text to speech turns writing into a lifelike voice: it pauses on punctuation, shifts intonation on questions and exclamations, and the newer versions follow delivery cues written right in the text. On ai.neiroset, ElevenLabs works alongside other AI models: voiceovers, images, video and music share one account and one balance.
- Three versions. Eleven v4 for expressive voiceovers, v4 Turbo for fast, lower-cost runs, v3 for emotions and audio tags.
- Fifteen voices. Male and female, all native English: deep narrators, bright presenters, calm and conversational voices.
- Delivery control. Stability makes the voice more expressive or steadier; Similarity keeps it close to the original voice.
- Audio tags. Whispers, laughs, sighs, excitement or sadness go in square brackets right where you need them.
- Voice changer. The same fifteen voices can replace the voice in your own recording, in the Voice changer tab.
- MP3 or WAV. Download MP3, or WAV for editing in v4 and v4 Turbo. Every take stays in your history.
What ElevenLabs is good for, and what it is not
Good for
- YouTube voiceovers, TikTok and Reels narration, explainers and product demos with a lifelike voice.
- Audiobook and podcast narration, online courses and training videos.
- Emotional scenes: whispers, laughs, sighs and sarcasm set with tags in Eleven v3.
- Turning your own recording into another voice in the Voice changer tab.
Better with another model
- Your own or a cloned voice: ElevenLabs models here work with the 15 ready voices. Your own voice is available in MiniMax and Seed Audio.

ElevenLabs voices
This section has fifteen voices from the ElevenLabs library. Male: Brian (deep, velvety), Benjamin (soft, calm), Hank (deep, gravelly), James (clear, professional), Mark (young, energetic), Nathan (quick, bright), Liam (youthful, friendly), Callum (upbeat, likable). Female: Bella (steady, confident), Adeline (bright, energetic), Eve (high, light), Laura (mature, husky), Jessica (bright, upbeat), Lucy (low, calm), Allison (soft, velvety).
All of them are native English voices, most with an American accent and a couple with a British one. Every voice has a sample on the page: play it before you choose. The same voices also read Spanish, Portuguese and other languages.
Audio tags in Eleven v3
A tag goes in square brackets right before the line it applies to: “[whispers] Don’t tell anyone.” The “Audio tags” menu in the text box inserts the tag at the cursor. Available tags: [whispers], [laughs], [sighs], [excited], [sad], [angry] and [sarcastic].
Tags work the strongest in Eleven v3: the delivery changes exactly where the tag is. Eleven v4 and v4 Turbo understand tags too, and they also accept a phonetic spelling between slashes when a word is read wrong.
ElevenLabs and other voice models here
For exact pauses in seconds and a set emotion, try MiniMax Speech 2.8 HD: it also lets you voice text with your own voice. For scenes and dialogue written like a script, there is Seed Audio 1.0. All voice models live on one page, so you can send the same text to each of them and compare.
ElevenLabs free: what you can try
There is no separate free version of ElevenLabs here, but every account gets free voiceover attempts that work on any version.
- After you sign in, you get 2 free attempts of up to 500 characters each.
- The attempts are shared by all voice models: ElevenLabs, MiniMax and Seed Audio.
- A voiceover that fails does not use up an attempt.
- After that, voiceovers are paid with tokens per character, and the price shows on the button before you run it.
