How auto-routing works

What you need to know

  • The route runs from the panel through the devices of the circuit at right angles, around walls and through doors, and crosses a wall only straight across. Lighting always runs along the ceiling, other circuits as chosen for the circuit. Cables of different circuits are laid in a bundle at 5 cm intervals.
  • The route keeps a 10 cm clearance from pipes and risers, and 40 cm from gas (PUE, cl. 2.1.56–2.1.57). A line in the floor is not routed under the bathtub, shower tray, toilet or kitchen base units.
  • This is a first draft, and the vertices are then adjusted by hand. Re-routing replaces only the auto-routed cables; those drawn with Wiring remain.
  • If you delete a circuit or a device: the auto-routed cables are deleted or trimmed along with them, while manually drawn ones remain and only lose their link. If a device was in the middle of a chain, Route on the plan will remove the detour around its place.
