How to install an air conditioner

Steps

  1. Place the indoor unit (wall-mounted or cassette) and the outdoor unit on the outside wall or on the balcony.
  2. Next to the indoor unit, place the Air-conditioner outlet: it is also in Electrics. The outdoor unit cage is in the same row, Units, cage and power outlet, and in Plan.
  3. In the Refrigerant line and drain step, click Build: the refrigerant line will go to the nearest outdoor unit, the drain will go to the sewer riser, and if there is none on the floor, outside to the outdoor unit.
  4. In the unit window, enter the cooling capacity from the datasheet, the power consumption, the maximum line length and the height difference from the datasheet.
  5. Floor-standing air conditioner (same row): a monoblock with a hose to the window, plugged into a socket. Its cooling capacity is counted together with the room's units; it needs no line or outdoor unit. If the room has no window, you will get a remark: the hose has nowhere to go (this is practice; the standards say nothing about mobile air conditioners).

What is important to know

  • The calculation estimates the room load the way sellers do: 30–40 W per cubic metre depending on the side of the building, and 100 W per person. This is an estimate, not a standard.
  • The line length is counted from the plan plus the height difference of the units. The line limits are taken only from the datasheet: without them the line is not checked.
  • The line is labelled Х3/Х5: a pair of copper pipes, liquid and gas (GOST 21.205). The drain is labelled Д, with a slope of at least 0.03 (GOST 34058-2021).
