How to make a mansard roof

Steps

  1. Choose the Mansard shape.
  2. Lower pitch sets the steepness of the lower slope (45–80°, 60° by default), Break sets the height of the break line above the top of the walls (2.2 m by default, with a livable attic below it), Upper pitch sets the gentle slope up to the ridge.

What to know

  • This is a broken gable roof: the ends have five-sided gables, the break lines are visible on the roof plan, and the pitch arrows show both pitches.
  • The break does not go further from the wall than 45 % of the half-span: if the break height is large and the house is narrow, the break lowers by itself.
  • The wings under the mansard part go under its slopes, as under a gable roof. The parts can be set as mansard and separately.
