How to set a ceiling
WhereFinishes tab
Steps
- Choose a finish: paint, stretch matte or glossy, plasterboard, slat, cassette (Armstrong, 600 × 600), wood and wood paneling.
- Check the drop: suspended ceilings have 7.5 cm by default.
- Click the room, and the ceiling covers it entirely, while the room height becomes smaller by the drop (on the plan, in the room window, on the elevations). Paint has no drop.
- Second level: set a different drop and drag a rectangle.
- Perimeter boxing (the Structure group): set the width (40 cm by default) and the drop (15 cm) and click the room. The result is a plasterboard box along the whole perimeter, with the room ceiling in the middle.
- Opening: drag a rectangle to get an area without a ceiling.
- Mounting block: click on the plan, and it is placed as a point for a chandelier.

What is important to know
- An opening inside a level cuts only the level: the room ceiling remains above it. An opening in the room ceiling itself opens a hole up to the floor slab.
- The level edge runs as a vertical strip along the free sides of the level and along the edge of an opening in it. Its height equals the difference of the drops. The edge is included in the schedule, in the estimate and in the volume.
- The drop of a stretch ceiling is from 5 cm, with built-in lights 7–10 cm: this is installers' practice, there is no official standard.
- On the plan, the level and the inner edge of the box are shown with a dash-dot line with two dots (GOST 21.501, cl. 5.3.4); the box drop label is placed on the box itself.
