How to place an outlet, a switch or a light fixture

Steps

  1. Choose the device tile.
  2. Move the cursor over the plan or in 3D: a wall device snaps to the nearest wall with its back to it, facing into the room. It does not stand in the middle of a room.
  3. Click: the device is placed at its own mounting height (from the catalog): switches at 90 cm, outlets at 30 cm, a light outlet point at 220 cm, an air conditioner one at 230 cm. In the window on the right the height is set in the Z field in the Position block, and in the Electrics block: group, power, callout and, for a light fixture, Switch.

What to know

  • Outlets, switches, light fixtures, outlet points and the thermostat can only be placed inside a room enclosed by walls and openings: groups are named after rooms. Outside a room the ghost is red, and the device cannot be placed there. An outdoor wall light can also be placed outside; the rule does not apply to low-voltage devices, cameras and panels.
  • For wall devices the plan shows the height in the project unit. It is measured from the finished floor of the room: in a bathroom with a floor at −2 cm, an outlet at 30 cm is 28 cm from the floor of the storey.
  • A device placed on a wall moves with it: if you move, rotate or lengthen the wall, the device and its cables follow. A pinned device does not move.
  • The symbols on the screen are colored by purpose: outlets and light fixtures are green, switches and the thermostat are raspberry, outlet points are red, the low-voltage outlet point is magenta, the waterproof outlet is blue. On the album sheets everything is black.
