How to run heating pipes

Steps

  1. Place the source: a boiler (Boiler and chimney), a manifold or a heating riser (Riser, manifold and pipes). The riser and chimney are the same items as in the Plan: you can place them in either of the two tabs.
  2. Click Build. The medium and return pipes will run along the walls from the source to each appliance. If there is a manifold on the floor and the source is a boiler or a riser, a feed pipe goes to the manifold, and from it branches run to the appliances.
  3. To draw by hand, use the Medium or Return tile, like a water supply pipe.

What is important to know

  • Colors: the medium pipe is dark red, the return pipe is blue.
  • Clicking Build again replaces the previous automatic heating pipes rather than adding a second set; pipes drawn by hand stay. Redo removes all heating pipes on the floor, including hand-drawn ones, and builds them again. Water supply, air ducts and air conditioner routes stay in place.
  • Pipes run along the walls, go into the next room through a short passage through the wall rather than through a doorway, and do not go outside the outline of the house. Air ducts run under the ceiling, so above a door they pass as if through a wall. If you delete a radiator, boiler or manifold, the automatic pipes leading to it are removed along with it.
  • The pipe window shows the flow rate, velocity and pressure loss.
